BSO was established in January 2004, its major shareholders are: BLOM Bank Lebanon (39%), IFC; International Finance Corporation, USA (10%) and a group of pioneer Syrian businessmen headed by Dr. Rateb Al Shallah (Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce) as the Chairman of our bank.

BSO has started operations with an initial capital of US$30 million. In 2005 and as the bank's activities expanded, the capital has been increased to US$60 million in order to maintain a higher level of capital adequacy and provide a greater security for depositors. However, the main protection available for the depositors regarding their funds is the experience and reputation of the major shareholder Blom Bank which provides our bank with technical and management assistance.

BSO’s head office is located in Harika, it has 7 branches in Damascus Harika, Nejmeh, Kassaa, Mezzeh, Mazraa, Kafar Susseh and Adraa (branches under construction: Midan & Dummar project) in addition to branches in the cities of Aleppo: Azizieh, Medineh, Muhafaza and Suleimaniah (branches under construction: Sheikh Najjar, Town Mall), Lattakia, Hama, Tartous, Homs, Sweida’a and Dara’a.
